The Center for Community Support & Research at Wichita State University is pleased to announce an initiative for qualifying Kansas faith-based and community organizations.
Note: The Round 6 workshops are mandatory for all agencies wishing to apply for 2010 Compassion Kansas funding. Please forward this announcement to other agencies that might be interested or eligible.
The Compassion Kansas initiative provides technical assistance and grant funding to help build the capacity of Kansas service organizations, coalitions, and groups. To ensure that organizations, coalitions, and groups have complete information about Compassion Kansas and the technical assistance and grant funding available, four regional introductory conferences will be held for those interested.
Qualifying organizations, coalitions, and groups include faith-based and community organizations in the state of Kansas that serve (or plan to serve) at least one of the following target populations: (1) homelessness, (2) elders in need, (3) at-risk children, (4) those in transition from welfare to work, (5) intensive rehabilitation populations (e.g., addicts, prisoners), and/or (6) organizations that provide marriage education and preparation. Priority will be given to organizations with annual operating budgets of less than $500,000 that have not previously received funding from the Federal government.
Workshops will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the following cities:
• Wichita: October 27
• Garden City: October 28
• Topeka: November 2
• Wichita: November 3
Detailed location information will follow. Up to 2 people per organization may attend. When registering, please provide name of each person attending, name of organization/group, telephone, and e-mail.
You may register via e-mail by sending your information to: angela.gaughan@wichita.edu. You may also register by phone by calling 800.445.0116 (toll-free in Kansas). Please do not register online
Attendance at one of these workshops is required for qualifying organizations, coalitions, and groups interested in applying for small grant awards and technical assistance.
Space is limited. Registration is required.
